Hunan receives 18.4947 million tourists during May Day holiday

According to the big data modeling analysis of mobiles phones signaling, during the 5-day May Day holiday, Hunan received a total of 18.4947 million tourists, an increase of 3.91% compared to the May Day holiday last year. The top five A-level scenic areas in terms of cumulative tourist flow were Yuelu Mountain-Orange Isle, Fenghuang Ancient Town, Wulingyuan National Scenic Area-Tianmen Mountain, Shaoshan City, and Mount Heng.

Changsha ranked top on popular lists in China.

According to data from Ctrip, Meituan, and Tongcheng, the cultural and tourism venues (including scenic areas, accommodation units, and transportation departments) of Changsha saw a weekly increase of over 190% in orders. Changsha is one of the top ten popular tourist destinations, travel destinations post-2000s are keen on, and most popular tourist destination cities in China. 

According to Qunar, Shenzhen-Changsha train tickets were no less difficult to purchase than those of the Spring Festival holiday. According to mobiles signaling data, the instantaneous passenger flow in Changsha was 1.5503 million people (excluding local tourists) at 13:00 on May 3. 31 tourist areas received 302,900 visitors on May 4, with a cumulative total of 1.5046 million visitors.

Cultural and tourism market across Hunan saw a significant rise.

Hengyang City launched a series of activities, such as the Chinese-style Hanfu Season and Night Market. 

From May 1 to 3, 22 tourist attractions received a total of 568,700 visitors and achieved a revenue of 453.4293 million yuan. 

On May 4, Shaoshan City of Xiangtan City received 41,500 tourists with a comprehensive tourism revenue of 20.75 million yuan. 

According to the latest statistics from a well-known South Korean travel agency, the booking volume of group tours to China surged by 608% year on year in May, with such destinations as Zhangjiajie City and Furong Town of Xiangxi Prefecture popular among overseas tourists. 

On May 2, the number of tourists in scenic areas in Xinhua County of Loudi City such as Ziquejie Terraced Fields and Meishan Dragon Palace rose by 59.06% year on year, with the tourism revenue up 52.33% year on year. 

Hunan maintained an upward trend in the cultural and tourism market.

Consumption potential was released through culture and tourism integration.

373 museums, libraries, and cultural centers monitored welcomed 1.2967 million visitors in the 5 days, a year-on-year increase of 38.97%. Among them, 90 museums had 879,200 visitors, a year-on-year growth of 29.23%. New products and formats such as immersive performances, interactive experiences, and smart tourism appeared in Hunan. 

Changsha launched 175 new scenes and activities such as the International Street Art Festival. The time-limited AR Experience Event became a focal point. On May 3, the Wangfujing Department Store and Hisense Plaza in Tianxin District received 58,000 and 95,000 visitors respectively, skyrocketing 110% and 270% severally. Folk performances such as Tujia Daliuzi, Dayong Martial Arts, and Tujia Waving Dance were staged in turns in the Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie City.

Cultural and tourism market services received high praise.

Various tourist-friendly measures and characteristic services were launched throughout the province, such as extending the operating hours of buses and subways in Changsha, increasing the number of cruise ships at Orange Isle, and establishing dedicated lines for holiday tourism from bus stations to major commercial districts and scenic areas. Besides, Zhangjiajie established dozens of volunteer service teams in 31 tourist attractions. Liling City of Zhuzhou City released a porcelain-picking map, and nearly 200 stalls offered free Liling stir-fried noodles to tourists.
